Environmental, Social
and Governance (ESG)

Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) expectations are rising sharply — from regulators, investors, lenders, insurers and communities.

For organisations operating in mining, energy, resources and other high-hazard sectors, ESG is no longer a reporting exercise. It is a core business risk and value driver.

Inherent ESG is a distinct service line focused on helping organisations design, govern and deliver ESG programs that are credible, investable and operationally real.

We bring ESG out of slide decks and sustainability reports, and into the governance systems, risk controls, operational processes and decision-making structures that actually run your business.

Our work is grounded in decades of experience across high-risk industries — where failure is visible, consequences are material, and execution matters.

HOW WE WORK

What Makes Inherent ESG Different

Most ESG advisors start with frameworks and reporting.

We start with how your organisation actually works.

We integrate ESG into:

  • board and executive governance
  • enterprise and operational risk systems
  • capital and project decision-making
  • frontline operations and workforce capability
  • performance measurement and assurance

This ensures ESG commitments are:

  • aligned to strategy and risk appetite
  • owned at board and executive level
  • embedded in day-to-day operations
  • defensible with regulators, investors and partners

We don’t just help you say the right things about ESG.

We help you run your business in a way that stands up – commercially, operationally and reputationally.

WHAT WE DO

Our ESG Services

ESG Strategy & Positioning

We help organisations define what ESG really means for their business, sector and risk profile.

  • ESG materiality and priority setting grounded in operational reality
  • Alignment with corporate strategy, growth plans and capital programs
  • Practical ESG roadmaps with clear accountabilities and sequencing
  • Translation of global ESG expectations into business-specific action

This creates a focused ESG agenda that leadership can actually deliver.

ESG Governance & Board Integration

Strong ESG outcomes require strong governance.

We design and embed:

  • ESG governance structures, committees and decision rights
  • Board and executive accountability for ESG outcomes
  • Integration of ESG into enterprise risk and assurance frameworks
  • ESG policies, standards and controls aligned to regulatory and investor expectations

This moves ESG from “sustainability initiative” to board-owned business discipline.

Environmental & Operational Risk Integration

We specialise in environments where environmental and safety risks are material.

Our support includes:

  • Environmental and climate risk integration into enterprise and project risk registers
  • Operational risk reviews linked to energy, water, waste, emissions and land use
  • Environmental compliance, assurance and continuous improvement systems
  • Practical pathways for emissions reduction and resource efficiency

This ensures environmental commitments are technically sound, risk-aware and achievable.

Social & Workforce Sustainability

ESG fails when people systems are overlooked.

We help organisations design and embed:

  • Workforce sustainability, capability and transition planning
  • Health, safety, wellbeing and human rights governance
  • Community impact and social value strategies
  • Inclusive, ethical and responsible operating practices

The focus is on real workforce outcomes, not abstract social statements.

Performance, Data & ESG Reporting

Good ESG decisions depend on good data.

We support:

  • ESG KPIs, targets and performance dashboards
  • Data ownership, controls and assurance pathways
  • ESG reporting aligned to investor, lender and regulatory expectations
  • Decision-useful reporting for boards and executives — not just public disclosure

This turns ESG metrics into a management and governance tool, not a marketing exercise.

Transactions, Projects & Capital

ESG risk and value crystallise during change.

We support:

  • ESG due diligence for acquisitions, divestments and major projects
  • Governance and risk integration during capital programs
  • ESG readiness for financing, investment and approvals
  • Post-transaction integration of ESG obligations and controls

This protects value and reduces ESG-related execution risk when it matters most.
